Released on July 3, 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day (T2) is widely considered one of the greatest sequels ever made and a massive landmark in visual effects. The film was directed by James Cameron, produced by his company Lightstorm Entertainment, and distributed by TriStar Pictures. A decade after the first film, a new, highly advanced Terminator—the liquid metal T-1000, played by Robert Patrick—is sent back from 2029 to kill a young John Connor, portrayed by Edward Furlong. This time, the Resistance has captured and reprogrammed an older T-800 model, with Arnold Schwarzenegger returning as Connor’s protector. Linda Hamilton also returns in a powerhouse performance as a hardened, warrior version of Sarah Connor. The film’s dynamic action, emotional resonance, and groundbreaking CGI created by Industrial Light & Magic and Stan Winston, set a new standard for Hollywood blockbusters.
