Pootie Tang (movie, 2001)

About This Movie / Film

Released on June 29, 2001, Pootie Tang is a surreal comedy film adapted from a sketch on The Chris Rock Show. The film follows the titular character, Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther), a belt-wielding, gibberish-speaking urban hero and pop star who uses his fame to fight against corporate corruption and the evil Dick Lecter (Robert Vaughn). Pootie is a man of few (intelligible) words, but his influence is undeniable as he battles to keep his community safe from Lecter's harmful products. Despite mixed critical reception upon its release, the film has since developed a significant cult following for its unique humor and unconventional style.
