Released on November 13, 1998, Meet Joe Black is a supernatural romantic drama directed and produced by Martin Brest. The film tells the story of Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), a billionaire media mogul who, as his 65th birthday approaches, is visited by Death (Brad Pitt). Death takes the form of a young man and offers Bill a few extra days of life in exchange for being his guide to the human experience. The arrangement becomes complicated when Death—under the name "Joe Black"—begins to experience human emotions and falls for Bill's daughter, Susan (Claire Forlani).
